The Same Lord is Lord of all
Dear Parents, We know that God’s compassion and care for us knows no bounds, as He extends His love to everyone who comes to Him. Romans 10:12 reminds us that, “there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” This was part of the message that our grade 3 class shared with us today in chapel. |
When Paul wrote these words to the church in Rome, this was revolutionary. As the capital city of the Roman Empire, it would have been a melting pot of cultural backgrounds of which the Jews would have been a minority that insulated themselves in terms of their values from the outside world. They believed that they had the truth and that God only chose to reveal Himself to them. Instead, God was doing something new through Jesus and wanted to use the reach of the Roman Empire to quickly get His message across to what would have been considered the “civilised” world at that time, touching the continents of Europe, Africa, and Asia. The gospel of Jesus contained a message of love, hope, and compassion so powerful that it would break through all of the social, political, and racial norms of the day. Jesus continues to do so this day, desiring that all people on earth hear His gospel and put aside their differences for the sake of becoming one body, fully equal in Him. What a great reminder in a time where politics and race still seek to tear us apart. God has bigger plans and invites us to be part of HIStory, which He is calling us to as individuals as well as a community of believers here at Trinity. Blessings, J-D Lussier, Principal |
