Joy in His creation
Spending time with students on the playground at recess is a very special experience. Students are engaged in games, imaginative play, and exploration. Yesterday was an extra exciting day as students discovered this praying mantis sunning itself on the lamp post. Groups of students took turns “taking care” of this amazing creation of God, telling each other to keep their distance and still wanting to feed it pieces of cucumber and brush it with leaves and grass.
Students are not only curious and full of wonder and delight at recess, but all throughout their days. Our grade 7 and 8 classes, along with Mr. Lussier, Mr. Bezuyen, Mrs. Nahulak and a couple of parents are spending three days at Camp Medeba, a Christian outdoor adventure camp, where they are taking delight in activities they love or might be trying for the first time. They are building perseverance, trust in each other, strength, and confidence.
We are so grateful to God for all he has done for us, for his provisions, and for the way that he surprises us and gives us opportunities to take joy in His creation. The psalmist in Psalm 28 says that “the Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song, I praise him”. May you experience God’s goodness and take delight in his creation today and in the days ahead.
