He is alive! He is Risen Indeed!

Dear Parents,

As we take time over the next few days to reflect on the magnitude of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, it can be valuable to process who He died for and the ripple effects that this has for us today. During our time at chapel, our grade 3 class provided us with a perspective of what our world looks like today in terms of the makeup of our population: A staggering 8.2 billion people.

They broke this down into what would be represented in a village of 100 people, if it were truly representative of the ethnic, linguistic, religious, and economic backgrounds among other factors. With approximately 1/3 of the earth’s population claiming a relationship with Christ, this represents 2.7 billion people. This also means 5.5 billion people who have either never heard of or do not have a relationship with Jesus. This doesn’t even account for the billions of people who have come and gone over the previous 2000 years of history.

With this in mind, we can begin to see how large of a sacrifice that Jesus made and the depths of His love for all of humanity. We get a window into the crushing weight on Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane when he sweated blood and asked God for the cup to pass if at all possible. We are filled with awe at what he actually bore on the cross for each and every one of us. A wave of gratitude begins to well up inside of us, as we praise Jesus for the incredible gift of salvation. It also spurs us on to share this news to the other 5.5 billion people who have yet to discover Jesus.

What a great opportunity we have before us this weekend to share this incredible message, one person at a time. The best news of all: He is alive! He is Risen Indeed!

Have a very blessed Easter and Resurrection Sunday,
