Bazaar and 60th anniversary celebrations

Dear Parents,

In the weeks leading up to our Bazaar and 60th anniversary celebrations, I’ve had the chance to connect with some of our alumni who have shared some incredible stories of God’s faithfulness to our school over the years.

Here are a few anecdotes that I hope will serve as an inspiration to you as we come together as a community this Saturday to support our school.

– When the school first began, it was a simple building with 4 classrooms. The community would come together and repurpose things to take care of the needs of our students. This included using boxes and cookie barrels to store sports equipment. It extended to keeping an eye for “close-outs” to provide books for the library. It was at the heart of school Bazaars to raise money to add classrooms and build our 1 gym at the building on Walkers Line. All community members gave time and treasure in order for the school to move forward and students to be cared for.

– As the original school building began to age and was filled to capacity, it became a necessity to find a different space that would accommodate more students desiring Christian education. Through the work of various partners connected to the school, a deal was struck to exchange the land on Walkers Line for the land located on Itabashi Way. God’s hand was in all of this so that the deal would be accepted and go through. From there, a new building went up, which still houses our students today. Thanks to the sacrifice of countless families and community members, the building was paid off in subsequent years through the Shoulder to Shoulder campaign. We are indebted to all those who dug deep to make this possible for us to own the campus we have today.

While these are only a small sample of stories that were shared, I would like to thank Peter J Van Dyk, David Lammers, and Judy Vanderlingen for some of their reflections that highlighted some of the ways that God has carried us through the first 60 years at Trinity. We look forward to more stories and community celebrations throughout the coming days and months ahead.

Blessings,
J-D Lussier
