Kindness
Dear Parents, It’s officially February, which is an exciting month at Trinity. You may be wondering what is so special about February. This year, we are trying something different in that we will spend the entire month focusing on kindness. While we often talk about love around Valentine’s Day, it’s important that we put our love for others in action. This is where demonstrating kindness comes into play. There are several verses on the topic of kindness, but here are 2 passages written by the Apostle Paul that particularly resonate. He writes “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. In addition, Paul also challenges us with these words in Galatians 6:10: ”So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” |
Kindness also stands in stark contrast to Bullying, which neglects the care of others and is rooted in hatred and fear. When we choose to demonstrate God’s love to others, we show this by being kind to others and standing up for others and what is right. We go further than simplifying being anti-bullying and provide hope by living out the characteristics of the fruit of spirit of which love and kindness is a central part. In order to encourage our students, we will be having a friendly competition as a school to promote kindness. Students will be writing down acts of kindness that someone else has shown towards them. These will go into a jar in each classroom, and we will keep a tally of these kind acts. At the end of the month, the kindness class will receive a Donut Party. Our hope is that this will foster hearts of kindness, as we invite God to do a work in our hearts and lead us in serving one another. Blessings, J-D Lussier, Principal |
