Dear Parents,

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what makes Trinity a special place, and what sets us apart. Where I continually land is our sense of connection as a community, and our care for each other. While self-isolation and home learning have made connections more challenging, they are certainly more needed than ever. God placed in our DNA a need for relationships and for connectedness, which can be seen during creation in the interactions that Adam had with God in the garden, and in his need for companionship with Eve. It was that rupture in relationship with God that caused Adam and Eve to hide and then lead to Christ coming to this Earth to re-establish our connection to God through the cross. 

In Hebrews 10:24-25, the author writes, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” While the church is one place we meet as a body, there is certainly something to be said for the need for daily community by way of Christian education. Part of our mission as a school is to model and “inspire learners to reflect Jesus everywhere,” which is rooted in the idea of demonstrating love and good deeds. Furthermore, the scriptures highlight the need for this, “as you see the Day approaching”. If it’s one thing the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted, is that we are indeed moving closer to Christ’s coming, as Creation groans for His freedom.

Earlier this week, you should have received the re-registration package. We know that there is still a great deal of uncertainty for some families, whether it be due to a lack of job security, fear of a second wave of COVID-19, or not knowing what the new “normal” will look like. We understand this and as partners in the Trinity community, we want to be here to support you through that time. Our desire is that we can stay together during this crisis and come out of this stronger as individuals, and as a school community. You may have some questions and we want to answer them for you during this time. 

I am reminded of the words of David when he says in Psalm 133:1, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” My prayer is that we will be united through this and that you will remain an active member of our community.
