Dear Parents,

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. Proverbs 11:25 (ESV)

I have fond memories being part of 4H club as a young girl. This rural community club’s motto, “Learn to do by doing,” was represented through 4 Hs:

• Head: learning to think, to make decisions, and to understand the “whys”,
• Heart: being concerned with the welfare of others, accepting responsibility, determining attitude, learning how to work with others,
• Hands: learning new skills and perfecting those already known, developing pride in workmanship, and
• Health: practicing healthy living, making constructive use of leisure time, sharing healthy practices.

4H participants learned new skills and knowledge related to a particular topic and completed a special project which was presented at a final achievement celebration program attended by all the clubs within the municipality. Each club celebrated their learnings through a public presentation with a club exhibit as well as individual projects. Club leaders reviewed each project and gave written feedback on the work completed.

Our upcoming Celebration of Learning is about showcasing the 4 Hs. The challenge to “do something” and be a blessing is about taking head knowledge and moving it to our hearts, while using our hands (and feet) to bring health (or perhaps healing) to God’s beautiful yet broken world. Some of the driving questions for the projects include:

• How can we be a helper?
• How can we improve “Creation Care” at Trinity?
• How do we limit our impact on land use in Ontario?
• How might we create an inclusive playground at Trinity that improves friendship?
• How do we become better stewards of energy use?
• How can we make a difference in communities local and global?

It is our hope and prayer that each child at Trinity is enriched by the good learning that takes place when students are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
