The word hope in lights.

Share the Light of Hope this Christmas

Dear Parents,

As we enter the season of advent, I am reminded of the anticipation and excitement that exists, as we wait for the arrival or coming of something. This is so evident in the faces of our children, as the excitement seems to grow exponentially by the day. As Christians, we recognize that this “something” is not Santa or gifts or time off on vacation. Instead, we recognize that it is someone in the person of Jesus. While some historical records point to Jesus’ arrival sometime in the fall, we have chosen this time of the year to celebrate His birth. In the end, what really matters is that we recognize the need for Christ to come to this Earth to make a way for us.

I am reminded of the words in John 12:46: “I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.” What this imagery communicates so vividly is that there is a Hope that exists, because now there is light. Even among those still living in darkness, there is a Hope that accompanies the season that draws them to the light. Our role is to be the light and to share God’s love with others during a time when most are receptive to the gospel.

May God’s gift of Hope ignite a spark in you that reflects His glory and impacts our community during the coming weeks.

Blessings,
